Amid COVID updates at the end of last year, news what would otherwise be a big story got lost. In December 2020 the Supreme Court overturned a previous decision of the Court of Appeal which means the expansion of Heathrow Airport and the creation of a third runway can go ahead. Given the scale of this project, a Development Consent Order (DCO) will be used. A DCO is a piece of legislation that combines consent to develop, operate and maintain a project. The DCO at Heathrow will contain powers for the compulsory acquisition and temporary possession of land. Olden Property Consulting will be working with residential and commercial property owners impacted by the Heathrow Airport expansion – if you fall into this category please get in touch.
